OASW Celebrates Pride!

June is Pride Month! OASW celebrates the vibrancy, resilience, and accomplishments of the 2SLGBTQI+ community. As Pride flags are raised and festivals and parades celebrating Pride kick off around the province, we continue to celebrate the achievements of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and honour the history of the movement.

As social workers, we encourage you all to learn more about the diversity of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and how we can challenge and disrupt harmful practices and systems. There is a significant role for social workers to play in building a more inclusive, just, and equitable society to increase the safety and inclusion of individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQI+ across the lifespan.

To our social work members in the 2SLGBTQI+ community, we celebrate you and we thank you for your contributions to the profession and for your hard-won battles for your rights. OASW remains committed to standing in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQI+ community; raising awareness, sharing knowledge, and building the skills of Ontario’s social workers to provide safe and competent care through professional development and the ongoing integration of equity in our work.

We wish you all a happy Pride Month!
