OASW’s Response to the 2018 Pre-Budget Consultations

This year, OASW made both an oral and written submission in response to the Honourable Minister Charles Sousa’s invitation to participate in a discussion on the 2018 Ontario Budget.  When planning for the 2018 Budget, we recommended that government:

• Increase social assistance rates and transform system delivery.
• Accelerate the closure of the gap in pay between social workers in acute health care settings and those in primary health care.
• Create a province-wide system of publicly funded psychotherapy, utilizing social workers as accessible and highly skilled mental health professionals.
