Shane Joseph

Director at Large (2025-2028)

Shane Joseph is a son of Caribbean soil. He is a Social Worker and psychotherapist with over twenty (20) years of wisdom in the areas of masculinity, gender-based violence, program and policy development, suicide intervention, and mental health. He is a certified Trainer in safeTALK, Applied Suicide Intervention Skill Training (ASIST), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), and Workplace Psychological Safety Training.

As a Clinician, he provides individual, couples, and family therapy for the Black African Caribbean community disproportionately, which is heavily grounded in intersectional and decolonizing approaches. As a Consultant, he has completed assignments for UN agencies, the World Bank, and other international entities in the Caribbean, North, South & and Central America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.

He taught at the college level and currently lectures on the Field Placement and Practicum Seminar at the University level. He has a passion for challenging individuals to seek excellence and empowering them to transform others wherever they are called to. He provides consultation to organizations on racial equity, DEIA issues, and organizational change management. He is a powerful moderator and keynote speaker.

He is the current Chair of the North American MenEngage (NAMEN) and a Director on the Global MenEngage International (entities working with men and boys to end violence, masculinity, and fatherhood, among others). He is the current Chief Executive Officer at Roots Community Services, an organization that provides culturally responsive and adaptive programming for the Black African Caribbean Community (BAC). Shane embraces the opportunity to be a part of the OASW, to learn, share, and build the organization.
