Mariyam Zaidi is a registered social worker, clinician, and community leader with over a decade of experience in the mental health, nonprofit, and consulting sectors. She brings a strong equity-focused lens to her work, with a deep commitment to building inclusive, responsive systems that center the voices of historically marginalized communities.
Mariyam is the Founder and Clinical Director of Hope Psychotherapy and Consulting, where she provides therapy and mental health programming rooted in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed care. She is also the Founder of MYM Strategic Consulting—a firm that supports nonprofit organizations through strategic planning, organizational design, and program development.
Mariyam has held senior leadership roles, including serving as Interim Executive Director of the Syrian Canadian Foundation and Director of Programs at Sakeenah Canada. Her work has spanned organizational development, program design, evaluation, and stakeholder engagement. She is especially passionate about supporting youth, immigrants, and racialized communities, and has led numerous initiatives aimed at building community resilience and systemic change.
Known for her strategic thinking and relationship-building, Mariyam has consulted with health teams, community agencies, and advocacy groups across Ontario. Her leadership is informed by her clinical expertise, governance experience, and a lifelong commitment to social justice.
Mariyam is honoured to serve on the OASW Board and looks forward to contributing her voice and experience to advance the profession, support members, and advocate for policies that reflect the realities and aspirations of social workers across the province.
